"Blues for Life" - Rory Duncan
1. EXT. EMPTY TRAIN PLATFORM – NIGHT
Production titles before any shots are seen in the film. Diagetic sound dubbed over in background of trains, wind footsteps and faint music. (RJD Productions/ in association with Beacon Media/present a film by Rory Duncan/ Blues for Life)
1.1 Long shot – Empty train platform. Aarons walks into shot and continues down the platform. We
begin to see the character of Dan. Tripod
1.2 Long shot – Dan is standing by a bench, Aaron becomes carries on walking donw the platform
becoming more apparent in the shot. He sits down on the bench. Tripod
1.3 Close Up – Aaron sits on the bench and stares at Dan. Tripod
1.4 Close up – Camera positioned next to Dan. Dan notices Aaron staring at him and looks back. Tripod
1.5 Medium shot – Slight low angle. Dan gives Aaron and a thumbs up. Tripod
1.5 Master Wide shot – Camera cuts to a wide from in front of the bridge. Terry walks in from the
entrance of the station. The camera stays in position as he walks into the platform and sits down on the bench next to Aaron. Tripod
1.7 Close up - Camera shows Terry’s eyes looking between Aaron and Dan. Tripod
1.8 Close up – Terry looks takes out a packet of cigarettes from his pocket: This reveals tattoo ‘Blues’
on his hand. Tripod
1.9 Mid shot – The camera cuts to show Terry rooting around in his hoodie pocket for a lighter -
Tripod
1.10 Extreme close up - Hand going into pocket, searching for lighter. Tattoo focused on in shot.
1.11 Mid shot/Close up – slight low angle on Dan. He notices Terry’s struggle to find lighter
1.12 Cut to extreme close up – Empty cigarette packet with lighter in, Dan takes the lighter out and offers
it to Terry. Dan begins to throw away packet
1.13 Cuts to Wide shot and action match – Dan throws away the empty packet and Terry takes the lighter
1.14 Master shot – All three characters at platform. Terry looks down and takes cigarette packet out and
removes another cigarette. He gives cigarette to Dan. Cutaway to next shot as he begins to stand
up.
1.15 Cut away to close up – Aarons looks round to both boys
1.16 Mid shot – Terry lights his own cigarette and lights dan.
1.17 Cut to mid/two shot from next to Dan at slight angle – Line of dialogue from Dan. Terry responds
1.18 Mid shot – Line of dialogue from Dan
1.19 Mid/Close up of Terry – Terry responds
1.20 Camera cuts back to shot 1.17 – Dan’s responds. Line of dialogue
1.21 Cut back to shot 1.19 – Line of dialogue from Terry.
1.22 Cut away to wide of shot of Dan and Terry
1.23 Mid shot – Hoodie one and two walk towards the camera, they walk out of shot.
1.24 Wide shot – Tracks behind both hoodies walking into station, they meet terry and camera follows and
goes to mid shot as they sit on the bench. Hand Held
1.25 Wide shot – Terry looks round at sits down next to hoodies.
1.26 Quick cut to mid shot – Conversation between Hoodie Two and Terry – Three lines of dialogue. Hoodie one begins to look round
1.27 Cuts to wide shot, side on view at slight angle – Hoodie one taunts Aaron
1.28 Cut to mid shot to other side of bench – We see Aaron’s reaction as Hoodie on turns and hits him and
Hoodie two begins to taunt
1.29 Close up at high slight high angle – Aarons reaction, shuffles down bench
1.30 Mid/wide shot at slight high angle – Terry responds to the Hoodie’s behaviour
1.31 Close up of Hoodie one – Line of dialogue
1.32 Cuts to master wide shot – All character visible, both sides of the bench. Dan walks notices situation
and walks round, more centre in the frame. Hoodies question who he is. Line of dialogue.
1.33 Wide shot from the opposite side/angle – Line of dialogue from Hoodie one.
1.34 Wide shot – All three hoodies on bench, line of dialogue from Terry.
1.35 Mid/two shot – Hoodie two and Teryr in frame. Line of dialogue.
1.36 Close up – Hoodie One responds
1.37 Cut back Mid/two shot – Line of dialogue from Hoodie Two
1:38 Mid/two shot – Line of dialogue from hoodie one. Aaron visible in background.
1.40 Mid shot - from other side of bench, all characters in frame. Camera tracks Terry and both hoodies boarding train. Pans up at tracks to the side then ends on a wide shot of the train doors closing
1.41 Wide Master shot of traing pulling off.
Credits start to roll over shot of train leaving platform and fading into the background as it leaves the shot. (Cast information and company name/ written and directed by Rory Duncan)
